Our Story

Dukathole Community Aid Food Bank Programme started this Food Bank NPO in Communities to address critical food security challenges, particularly given the high levels of poverty, unemployment, and inequality. We demonstrate the impact of such initiatives, by focusing on food recovery and distribution to vulnerable communities.

A significant portion of the South African population are facing high levels of food insecurity, including a large number of children, due to poverty and other socio-economic factors. Many individuals and families struggle to afford or access nutritious food, leading to malnutrition and related health issues.

Dukathole Food Bank NPO can directly address these challenges by providing meals, food parcels, and other support to those in need. And play a crucial role in recovering and redistributing surplus food from various sources, minimizing waste and maximizing resources.

We are driven by values

The mission is to establish a community food bank where individuals of all ages, from children to the elderly, can access essential food supplies, ensuring no one in the community goes hungry. This initiative aims to create a sustainable system that promotes food security and empowers community members by addressing immediate needs and fostering long-term solutions to hunger.
